Komdigi Targets 450 Thousand Digital Talents Per Year, Until 2030

JAKARTA - Head of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto said that the government is targeting to produce at least 450 thousand digital talents per year, in the next 6 years.

Based on the initial study of the Ministry of Communication and Industry, at first the average need for total digital talent in a 15-year time vulnerable, namely from 2015-2030, only 9 million digital talents, so the target of the talent needed at that time was 600 thousand per year.

However, along with the rapid development of technology, the estimated need has increased to 12 million digital talents by 2030. Even so, with various training and development programs that have been running until 2025, the number of supply of digital talent continues to grow. This makes the projected annual needs decrease by around 150 thousand people per year.

"The need (digital talent) continues to increase, but supply also increases every year. Then there is a gap, now that gap is divided into 6 years. There will be 450 thousand numbers," said Boni at the Ngopi Bareng Komdigi event on Friday, June 20.

Well, to increase the number of digital talents in the country, Boni reminded the importance of having vocational education to obtain certification, in addition to educational degrees.

"This vaccination is very much needed because they have faster skills to absorb in industrial needs," explained Boni further.

To obtain digital certification, Komdigi has also provided several websites such as literacydigital.id, digitalent.komdigi.go.id and so on. The certification training is provided free of charge, thanks to support from various global technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, Yandex, and others.

This training program is open to all groups, the general public, ASN, or MSME players. The training and certification include AI, machine learning, communication, cybersecurity, and so on.
