Indonesia's Russia Agrees To Prioritize Collaboration, Not Conflict

ST. PETERSBURG President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto emphasized Indonesia's commitment to upholding the principles of state sovereignty and a peaceful settlement in international relations. This was conveyed after a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, Thursday 19 June.

Indonesia and Russia have many of the same views on global issues. We respect the sovereignty of each country and always prioritize collaboration over conflict," Prabowo said in a joint press statement.

Presiden Prabowo juga menyampaikan apresiasi atas sambutan hangat dari pemerintah Rusia serta kerja sama bilateral yang terus berkembang, khususnya di sektor perdagangan dan strategi kawasan.

He welcomed the strategic agreement reached during the visit and hoped that Indonesia's relations would be further strengthened in the future.

"I hope this visit can bring very significant progress for relations between the two countries," he said.

On that occasion, President Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for the invitation to attend the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), where he is scheduled to attend with President Putin.
