GPT-5, Big ChatGPT Update Coming This Summer
JAKARTA - OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has confirmed that the GPT-5 will launch this summer. This launch is the next major evolution step from ChatGPT following the GPT-4.1 update released in April. Although the details of the scale are still unclear, the increasing competition from competitors such as Claude 4 and DeepSek puts great pressure on OpenAI to bring something really significant.
GPT-4.1 is now a strong update, presenting an increased ChatGPT intelligence and capabilities. However, if you look forward to a big leap in performance and features, then the GPT-5 is something to look forward to. The good news: we don't have to wait too long.
In an interview with former OpenAI employee Andrew Mayne, Altman revealed that the GPT-5 is scheduled to attend this summer. Although it does not give a definite date, this statement indicates that the launch is getting closer.
Altman explained that in the past the development process was simpler. "We trained a big model, then released it. Then we trained the next big model and released it again," said Altman. Now, the process is more complex, and a large version like the GPT-5 is expected to bring a significant increase compared to just minor updates like the GPT-4.1.

ChatGPT is currently a big name in the world of AI and has become a synchronize of artificial intelligence in the eyes of many people. However, OpenAI's dominance did not allow it to relax.
Some of the main competitors are now emerging with new powers:
Anthropic recently released Claude 4, a state-of-the-art AI model targeting professional users.
In China, local players like DeepSek stole the attention of the global industry with its appearance earlier this year.
These models pose a serious challenge to ChatGPT's superiority, so that the GPT-5 is an important moment for OpenAI to prove that they remain at the forefront.
