YouTube Shorts Ready To Be Flooded With AI Content, Google Will Integrate Veo 3 This Summer

JAKARTA - YouTube Shorts, Google's short video feature, will soon receive a huge boost from artificial intelligence technology. In the next few months, Google will integrate their latest Veo 3, AI model for video creation, directly into Shorts.

YouTube CEO, Neal Mohan, announced this news while appearing at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2025, along with the 20th anniversary of the YouTube platform. He highlighted the huge potential of AI tools in boosting user creativity, and said that Shorts is now watched on average more than 200 billion times per day.

Veo 3 is the latest generation of Google-made AI models capable of creating eight-second video and audio clips from simple text prompts. This technology was first introduced last month in the Google I/O 2025 event, and is said to be able to produce videos with very impressive visual quality.

Previously, YouTube had used the old version of Veo to generate backgrounds and automatic footage on Shorts. But Veo 3 is a big leap in terms of quality and flexibility.

The integration of Veo 3 certainly opens up great opportunities for content creators to produce short videos of high quality and easy quality. But on the other hand, this technology also raises concerns, especially in potential abuse such as the creation of celebrity deepfakes or disinformation spread.

As a precautionary measure, Google has collaborated with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) as well as a number of creators to develop tools that provide greater control for public figures for their digital image.

Interestingly, YouTube has recently also relaxed its content moderation policies, by providing new directions so that content that violates the rules remains broadcast if it is judged for the public interest.

With the integration of Veo 3, YouTube Shorts is expected to become more and more a field of creativity or digital chaos depending on how this tool is utilized. One thing is for sure: get ready, big waves of AI content will soon flood your homepage
