Zimbra Welcomes Cyber Security Bill, Ready To Strengthen National Digital Ecosystem

JAKARTA Zimbra, an open-core email solution provider and collaboration, welcomes the plan to make a Draft Law on Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience in Indonesia.

According to Zimbra, the Cybersecurity Bill is a positive step in dealing with the ever-increasing cyber threat, for example, such as a ransomware attack on a national data center last year. Therefore, Zimbra supports the bill.

"The increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber threats, such as recent ransomware attacks at national data centers, underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive cybersecurity framework," Zimbra's representative told VOI.

The Cyber Security Bill is also considered important because it is in line with the company's core commitment. The hope is that this law can increase national infrastructure protection which is important and can be in line with global practices.

Zimbra anticipates that this bill will introduce a number of new requirements, ranging from data management systems, responses in dealing with incidents, to infrastructure resilience. Before the bill was passed, Zimbra was confident he could meet all of its requirements.

Zimbra also does not admit that the Cybersecurity Bill can pose challenges to companies or organizations in various sectors. This challenge may also be felt in terms of resources, delays in the implementation of security, to difficulties in the governance transition that is in line with the law.

"The emphasis of the bill on data governance can require companies to switch to local hosting or private cloud environments. That may be a significant technical transition for those who are currently dependent on foreign SaaS providers," said Zimbra.

Zimbra's support for the Cyber Security Bill is also in line with his views on the Indonesian market. According to Zimbra, Indonesia will be one of the most important growth markets in Southeast Asia, especially for its companies.

This is driven by the acceleration of the digital transformation agenda throughout the government, education, and critical industries such as finance and health care. Zimbra was determined to strengthen his presence in Indonesia.

There are several strategies that Zimbra will implement, including actively investing in building a stronger local partner ecosystem, including system integrators, IT consultants, and service providers and understanding the importance of local trust and relevance.

"We are in discussions with public institutions and regulatory agencies to ensure that our platform supports the government's cybersecurity goals," Zimbra's representative concluded.
