Pramono Wants To Fix A New Market To Be Crowded With Blok M

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the DKI Provincial Government will organize the Pasar Baru area, Sawah Besar District, Central Jakarta. Pramono wants community visits to Pasar Baru to be more crowded like the Blok M area today.

"After Blok M, we finished it and now Blok M has become relatively busy, so it will be lively, then what we will do next is at Pasar Baru," Pramono said while inspecting Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta, Thursday, June 19.

Pramono assessed that the current feel of the Pasar Baru area needs to be updated, starting from regional arrangement to installation of ornaments to make it more attractive to visit. The DKI Provincial Government, he continued, will start a discussion meeting for the arrangement of the Pasar Baru area next week.

"If you want to make improvements to Pasar Baru, you can't half-heartedly. So that way, in particular, I will ask next week that we will hold a special meeting for how to improve Pasar Baru in the future," explained Pramono.

In the future, Pramono wants Pasar Baru, which is one of the oldest trade areas in Jakarta, to become a new symbol of Jakarta City.

"We will make improvements in Pasar Baru, will make Pasar Baru a new symbol or hub for the people of Jakarta," he explained.

In addition, Pramono revealed that there will be additional Transjakarta routes in the city that cross the Pasar Baru area to facilitate community visits.

"For example, from Blok M to Pasar Baru or from Tebet to Pasar Baru. Thus, it is easy for people to arrive at Pasar Baru. There used to be a lot of delicious restaurants and that's what we will revive," said Pramono.

The plan is that the DKI Provincial Government will allocate a New Market revitalization budget in the 2026 budget year APBD. Meanwhile, this year the implementation study is still being improved.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno said that as one of the spirits of the city of Jakarta, Pemorov DKI must indeed pay attention to the attractiveness of Pasar Baru. Thus, structuring in Pasar Baru must be done.

"In the past, Pasar Baru was crowded. Indeed, behind it was quiet because it started with COVID. But yesterday I visited, I have confidence that I can return at least 50 percent of the crowd," said Rano, some time ago.

Revitalization of Pasar Baru, continued Rano, will be carried out optimally. Given, Pasar Baru is located in a strategic area adjacent to city parks, art buildings, to government offices.

"We will form an area of the Banteng Field, then with the Ministry of Finance we will also work together to open the area. Then there is an art building, a post office too. So, the New Market will enter the area later," said Rano.
