Mamin Factory Of IDR 3.3 Trillion Immediately Built In Cikarang, West Java, Deputy Minister Of Industry: Create Jobs

JAKARTA - The food and beverage industry, aka the arrival of new investors, namely PT PepsiCo Indonesia. Where, will build its first factory in Cikarang, West Java.

The factory, which has been producing since January 13, 2025, is equipped with three production lines with an installed capacity of 24,000 tons per year and has absorbed nearly 400 workers.

Then, invest in the construction of a factory in Cikarang worth 200 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp3.3 trillion.

Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza said the presence of this factory not only strengthens the national snack food industry, but also creates jobs and encourages import substitution.

"This also indicates that domestic market opportunities are still very open and the industrial sector is still very promising," said Faisol as quoted from his written statement, Thursday, June 19.

Currently, the snack market in Indonesia, which is dominated by millennials and Gen Z, includes 55 percent of the consumer population, also showing a positive growth trend with a market value of 3.87 billion US dollars in 2023 and is projected to grow 8.13 percent (CAGR) until 2029.

Not only focusing on increasing production, but the Ministry of Industry also appreciates PepsiCo's initiative in cooperating with 200 potato farmers and 200 corn farmers from West Java and Central Java, which is carried out through superior seed development programs, increasing productivity and empowering local farmers.

In addition, PT PepsiCo Indonesia is considered an industry player who has implemented the principle of sustainability, with the use of 100 percent recycled water and renewable electrical energy in the production process.

"We hope that PT PepsiCo Indonesia will continue to create a positive impact. Not only through job creation and increased added value, but also with its contribution to environmental sustainability and strengthening the local economy," he said.

Director General of Agro Industry of the Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika said that PT PepsiCo Indonesia's investment is an important symbol of the global investor's trust in the potential of the national food industry.

"This investment shows that Indonesia is not only a large consumption market, but also a competitive production base. We continue to encourage the development of the export-oriented food and beverage industry, high added value and based on local raw materials," he said.

Meanwhile, the CEO of PepsiCo Indonesia Asif Mobin said, Indonesia played an important role in PepsiCo's long-term growth plan for Asia Pacific driven by the demand for dynamic consumers and the national vision for industrial development.

According to him, this new facility will bring the company closer to Indonesian consumers. Built on an area of 60,000 thousand square meters, the PepsiCo Indonesia factory will produce snacks products that consumers like using local raw materials.
