China To Evacuate Its Citizens From Israel To Egypt Starting Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The Chinese Embassy in Israel will help its citizens who want to evacuate to Egypt gradually starting tomorrow, the embassy said in Thursday's announcement.

Evacuation operations will take Chinese nationals to Taba Border to Egypt via bus, about 360 km (224 miles) from Tel Aviv.

"The Israeli-Iranian conflict continues to increase, with the increase in casualties, the chances of worsening the situation cannot be ruled out," the embassy wrote.

The considerations taken include the current situation, route safety, customs and adequate aircraft tickets as a whole, quoted from the Global Times.

The embassy has opened data on those who wish to evacuate. The condition is that they must hold Chinese passports or travel documents, including Hong Kong and Macau SAR passports, or land travel permits for Taiwanese.

Meanwhile, individuals who do not have passports must show their Chinese national identity cards, the notification said.

Earlier, the Chinese Embassy in Tel Aviv on Tuesday announced that its citizens would immediately leave Israel by land crossing as soon as possible, with Jordan recommended as a preferred route.

The embassy confirmed Israel's airspace was still closed until June 30, while the Israeli government confirmed border crossings with Jordan and Egypt remained open.

Israel launched airstrikes in the "Raising Lion" operation targeting Iran's nuclear and military facilities on Friday morning last week.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the attack on Friday because it had enough enriched uranium to make several bombs in a few days, so it needed to act, quoted from The Times of Israel.

Israel is known to target three key Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow, as well as a number of scientists linked to Iran's nuclear research and development, as reported by CNN.

Tehran itself said it was entitled to peaceful nuclear power, denying developing nuclear weapons. However, its rapidly growing uranium enrichment program has raised concerns in the West and across the Gulf, the country wants to develop nuclear weapons.
