BWF Agrees To Injury Daniel Marthin's Point Protection
JAKARTA The International Badminton Federation (BWF) approved the protection of the men's doubles badminton player Daniel Marthin which was proposed by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).
This was confirmed by Bambang Roedyanto as Head of Foreign Relations of PBSI Central Management through an official statement received by the media on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, evening WIB.
"BWF has approved PBSI's request regarding the protection of Daniel Marthin's ranking points," said Bambang in the statement.
Thus, Daniel remains entitled to maintain his world ranking points as of May 16, 2025 (64,185 points) during the current protection period.
The protection of ranking points applies to the date of PBSI's initial request, which is May 16, 2025. The protection of this ranking point prevented Daniel from competing within three months until August 16, 2025.

"After returning, Daniel can use the protection of the ranking points according to the length of absence, but with a maximum of six months," said Bambang.
Thus, if Daniel, who is currently paired with Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, exceeds the time limit, he will compete using unprotected ranking points.
Daniel suffered a left knee injury while appearing with Fikri in the 2025 Sudirman Cup mixed team event which took place at Fenghuang Gymnasium, Xiamen, China, 27 April 4 May 2025.
The injury forced Daniel and Fikri to be absent from several important agendas, including the BWF World Tour Super 750 Singapore Open (27 May 1 June 2025) and the Super 1000 Indonesia Open (38 June 2025).
During Daniel's recovery period, PBSI decided to pair Fikri with Fajar Alfian, who temporarily did not play with his main partner Muhammad Rian Ardianto. Rian had to leave the tournament because of family reasons
The Fajar/Fikri pair are scheduled to appear at the Japan Open (Super 750), China Open (Super 1000), and Macau Open (Super 300).
