Maruarar Concerning The Size Of Subsidy Houses Reaps Criticism: On Instagram Many Millennials Are Happy

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait casually responded to the pros and cons regarding the size of subsidized houses. He claims, many millennials actually provide support.

It is known, the Ministry of PKP has presented the concept of a subsidized house with a building area of 18 square meters. This size is then in the spotlight of many parties, including netizens.

"Yes, there must be pros and cons. But, whether anyone likes it, they can be checked on my Instagram. So many millennials are happy, really. This means that what is already there is going on," Maruarar told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, June 18.

Even so, Maruarar said that his party was still hearing input from many parties. Including, there are those who question what if the owner of the house owns a vehicle.

"Right, we have to listen. As a regulator, we (we, ed) listen to many parties," said the Gerindra Party politician.

Maruarar also mentioned the concept of subsidized houses exhibited at Lippo Mall Nusantara or known as Plaza Semanggi as just an example. This is because the ministry is still studying the right size.

"Later, what size, we will examine, we will study. But we will listen to input, don't take the decision first and then hear input. We are a bit different," he said.

"We heard the input first and then made a decision," he continued.

For information, the plan for the Decree of the Minister of PKP Number/KPTS/M/2025 which contains a plan to change the minimum area of subsidized houses is circulating. The proposed land size has an area from 25 to 200 square meters with a building area of 18 to 36 square meters.

The government will prepare 350 thousand subsidized housing units for this year through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) program.
