Meta Will Change All Videos On Facebook To Reels

JAKARTA Meta will change the video uploading system on Facebook in the coming months. The company stated that all videos on Facebook will be Reels.

The concept is similar to Instagram. When users share videos, both from the post page and from the Reels tab, the video will be shared as Reels. It's not explained when these changes will take effect.

"Previously, you uploaded a video to the Feed or posted a reel using different creative channels and tools for each format. Now, we are bringing this experience together with a simplified publishing flow," Meta said, quoted on Wednesday, June 18.

By making all videos Reels, Meta will also remove the limit of the duration of video uploading on Facebook. Currently, the valid duration is 90 seconds. In the future, users can upload videos with a duration of more than 90 seconds.

Meta says that this change will be rolled out in stages throughout the world. This means that Indonesia will get this change, both in the near future and in a longer time.

"Facebook remains home to all kinds of short, long, and Live videos. We will gradually roll out these changes globally to profiles and Pages in the coming months," explains Meta.

In line with this change, Meta will change the name of the Video tab to the Reels tab. Once the name changes, the recommended video topic will not change because Meta will maintain its personalization system.

"We still appreciate the various topics and durations on Facebook, and these updates won't change the videos we recommend to you, which are personalized based on your interests," Meta said.
