Getting Serious At The National Automotive Market, R&D Chery Team Starts Research To Build Its Own Factory

JAKARTA - The brand from China, namely Chery, is increasingly stable with the Indonesian automotive market by presenting many new models. In fact, the brand from China already has plans to build its own factory.

As is known, currently Chery is still using the PT Handal Indonesia Motor facility located in Pondok Ungu, Bekasi, West Java. Thus, Chery does not have its own factory since returning to Indonesia.

Head of Brand PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) Rifki Setiawan, said that currently principals have deployed a research and development team (R&D) to conduct factory research in Indonesia, as well as what future models are in accordance with domestic consumer characters.

"For the target, in 2027 the research has been completed but there has been no groundbreaking for factory construction. Only new research will be completed in 2027," he said, when met during a media drive in Bandung, West Java.

Furthermore, the man who is familiarly called Rifki said that the principal had also met with President Prabowo Subianto some time ago, and one of the discussions at that time was related to factory construction.

"Yesterday, Chery was summoned as the brand with the highest exports in China. At the same time there was a discussion about the factory, therefore we started deploying the R&D team for the factory later. The location is where we don't know, but it won't be outside Java," he said.

Currently Chery has a variety of mainstay models from ICE, BEV to CSH embedded in the Tiggo 8 model which offers a distance of more than 1,200 km in one full gasoline and battery.
