Mount Lewotobi Male Eruption, 10 Flights From Kupang NTT Canceled
PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia El Tari Kupang Airport reported that the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province had an impact on 10 Wings Air flights from Kupang to Flores Island.
"Until 12 this afternoon there were 10 flights from Kupang with Wings Air airlines forced to cancel flights to a number of airports in Flores," said PGS Legal, Compliance & Stakeholder Relations at El Tari Kupang Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Yudi Saputra in Kupang, Wednesday, June 18, which was confiscated by Antara.
This was conveyed in connection with the impact of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in Wulanggitang District, East Flores Regency, where volcanic ash spread to the west of Flores Island.
A number of airports that canceled their flights included Frans Seda Airport in Maumere, Sikka Regency, airports in Ende, Bajawa Airport, and airports in Ruteng.
The eruption also affected two airlines Susi Air to and from the airport in Sabu Raijua Regency, so management also canceled flights.
"We continue to carry out intensive monitoring of the development of Mount Lewotobi's volcanic activity through coordination with the BMKG, AirNav Indonesia, and related airlines," he added.

He emphasized that until now, no volcanic ash has been spread detected in the airspace around Kupang's El Tari Airport, which could interfere with flight safety.
Yudi added that as a mitigation step if there is a change in operational conditions, El Tari Kupang Airport will provide information on intra NTT alternative transportation through media facilities available at airports.
"To airport and public service users, we urge them to remain calm and always follow official information from the relevant authorities," he said.
