The Indonesian Foreign Minister Will Discuss The Iran-Israel Conflict To The OIC Internal Reform At The Istanbul KTM

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono will convey Indonesia's views on the Iran-Israeli conflict to internal reforms while attending the 51st Ministerial Conference (KTM) of Islamic Cooperation Organizations (OKI) which was held in Turkey this weekend.

"Indonesia together with several OIC countries conveyed a joint initiative to condemn the Israeli attack on Iran," said a spokesman for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rolliansyah "Roy" Soemirat.

"According to the plan, later (the joint statement) will be the outcome of the document to be adopted during the KTM in Istanbul on June 21-22," Roy explained in an online press statement from Russia, Wednesday, June 18.

Roy further said that Foreign Minister Sugiono is scheduled to attend KTM which was originally regular, scheduled for a long time.

"However, with the current developments, KTM may change its format or there will be additional special agendas, extraordinary sessions or extraordinary agenda items related to the situation in Iran," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in uploads on its website wrote, Foreign Minister Sugiono in this KTM will convey Indonesia's views on various global challenges and the Islamic world such as the Iran-Israeli armed conflict and the completion of the Gaza war, as well as strengthening economic development cooperation, especially in alleviating poverty.

The Foreign Minister will also underline the urgency of internal reforms, so that OICs are more responsive in overcoming global challenges and can provide concrete support for the development of member countries.

The issue of OIC reform became one of Indonesia's concerns as one of the founders of the OIC in 1969, considering the increasingly complex challenges facing member countries, including armed conflict, terrorism and poverty.

"The participation of the Indonesian Foreign Minister in KTM is proof of Indonesia's commitment to contribute to the creation of a safer, peaceful and prosperous world," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The presence of the Foreign Minister also reflects Indonesia's tireless diplomacy in creating peace, especially in supporting Palestinian independence, the ministry added, with the Indonesian Foreign Minister being a member of the Special Envoy for the OIC-League Arabs in resolving the Gaza war.

At the end of the meeting, it is hoped that the OIC Foreign Ministers can ratify the resolutions of the OKI and the Declaration of Istanbul, which contain joint commitments and concrete steps in responding to various global challenges and Muslims.
