Again, BI Holds Reference Interest Rate Of 5.5 Percent

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) decided to maintain the benchmark interest rate or BI-Rate at 5.5 percent.

In addition, it also maintains deposit facility interest rates and lending facility rates of 4.75 percent and 6.25 percent, respectively.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said BI decided to maintain the benchmark interest rate at the level of 5.50 percent.

"The Meeting of the Board of Governors (RDG) of Bank Indonesia on June 17 and 18, 2025 decided to keep the BI-Rate at 5.50 percent," Perry said at a press conference, Wednesday, June 18.

According to Perry, this decision is in line with the inflation forecasts for 2025 and 2026 in the target set by the government of 2.5 percent plus minus 1 percent.

In addition, as well as maintaining the stability of the rupiah exchange rate which is in accordance with the fundamentals amid global uncertainty which is still high, and the need to continue to contribute to economic growth.

In the future, Perry said that Bank Indonesia will continue to monitor the space for the decline in BI-Rate in order to encourage economic growth, while maintaining inflation in accordance with its goals and stability of the exchange rate in accordance with its fundamentals.

Meanwhile, Perry said that accommodative macroprudential policies continue to be optimized to support sustainable economic growth, with various strategies to encourage credit growth and increase the flexibility of liquidity management by banks.

"The payment system policy is also directed to help support economic growth through the expansion of the acceptance of digital payments, as well as strengthening infrastructure and consolidating the industrial structure of payment systems," he said.

Menurut Perry, arah bauran kebijakan moneter, makroprudensial, dan sistem pembayaran untuk menjaga stabilitas dalam rangka memperkuat pertumbuhan ekonomi yang berkelanjutan.
