Car Fails To Overtake Vehicle Hit By Truck, Couple Dies, 3 Children Injured

JAKARTA - A married couple (couple) died, while three of their children were injured after the car they were traveling in collided with a truck in Batu 8, Lepar, Malaysia.

Week police chief, Inspector Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin said the accident occurred at around 22.00, Tuesday 17 June.

"As a result of the accident, Jamal Azizul and his wife, Lizawati Abdullah, 41, died at the scene of serious injuries," he said in a statement, Wednesday, June 18, quoted from Bernama.

Zaidi said that the initial investigation revealed that the Proton Wira car carrying five family members to Segamat from Kuantan lost control while overtaking another vehicle in front of him. From the same direction when the car failed to overtake, a speeding truck appeared.

He explained that the three children of the victims, aged 6 to 17, suffered injuries to their heads, faces and stomach. They have been sent to the hospital for intensive care along with the bodies of their parents who will be autopsied at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA).

"The truck driver named Logesvaran Kandan, 31, did not suffer any injuries, while the two truck passengers, aged 24 and 37, each suffered minor injuries," he said.
