Ferrari Delays Launch Of Their Second EV Until 2028, Here's The Reason
JAKARTA - The decline in demand for electric vehicles (EVs) globally, has made a number of well-known automotive brands revise their plans to bring in more environmentally friendly mobility.
Ferrari is one of the brands that decided to take this step. The manufacturer with the "krimp horse" logo changed its plan to present their second EV which began to be scheduled for 2026, now it is in 2028.
Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, June 18, the manufacturer assessed that demand for high-performance luxury EVs is currently very low. However, the positive side of the postponement of Ferrari's second EV launch is that manufacturers have more time to develop the car.
Ferrari will present its first electric vehicle and will be launched by world premiere next year. Its delivery to customers is expected to begin in October 2026.
Ferrari's first electric vehicle was seen several times wearing a camouflage robe with a design silhouette resembling Maserati Levante. The interesting rumor is that the car will have an imitation sound resembling a V8 series.
Until now, Ferrari is still silent about the specifications, position of its first EV model, and style to be promoted. Previously, the price of Ferrari's first EV leaked to the public for around 500,000 euros.

Electrification is not new to Ferrari. Previously, the manufacturer had released LaFerrari armed with mid-hybrid technology which was paired with a 6.3 liter V12 machine, thus providing a total output of 950 hp combined with transmission of seven dual-clutch accelerations.
Then, the next electrification models such as SF90 Stradale and 296 carry the Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) system, which allows the supercar to run with pure power at short distances.
SF90 Stradale has a 4.0 liter V8 engine combined with an electric motor, giving it a power push of up to 986 hp.
Armed with a 7.9 kWh battery, this F8 successor supercar can go with pure power as far as 26 km in one full energy charge.
Meanwhile, Ferrari 296, which is the successor to the 488 model, has a 3.0 liter V6 twin-turbo engine combined with an electric drive that produces a combined power of 819 hp.
Together with a 7.45 kWh battery, the car can run on pure electric power for just 25 km.
