Palace: Indonesia Prepares Scenario For Evacuating Indonesian Citizens In Iran If Conflict Worsens
JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said the government continues to monitor the condition of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Iran, following the escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel.
"We continue to coordinate, especially with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pak Sugiono, to ensure the safety of all Indonesian citizens in Iran," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 17.
He emphasized that the government had prepared a number of anticipatory steps if the situation in the area worsened and endangered the safety of Indonesian citizens.
"We have designed a number of mitigation scenarios if the situation worsens," he said.
Previously, Foreign Minister Sugiono expressed his hope that tensions between Iran and Israel would soon subside. He invited all parties to exercise restraint to prevent further crisis in the region.

Sugiono also reminded that the escalation of this conflict could have a negative impact on regional stability. He said foreign ministers from several countries were scheduled to hold a meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday (21/6/2025), and this issue is likely to be one of the discussion agendas.
