Iran Warns Its Citizens To Stop Using WhatsApp-Telegram Used By Israel To Identify Targets

JAKARTA - Iran warns people to stop using WhatsApp, Telegram, and location-based applications. The messaging app is said to be one of Israel's main methods to identify and target individuals.

"After the recent targeted killings," by Israel, "including the killing of scientists, reports suggest that the regime (Israel) is using cell phone tracking to target people in Iran," Iran's government-owned news agency IRIB reported, citing a security report reported by CNN, Tuesday, June 17.

The report says the use of these applications is "dangerous" in situations like this.

The report also ordered people to turn off their phones before moving locations.

"People have to refrain from taking their phones to sensitive places," continued IRIB.

The security report also advises the public, especially employees of sensitive organizations, to use safe telecommunications lines and avoid the use of unsafe software.
