Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: We Respect Indonesia's Constructive And Substantive Approach
JAKARTA - Russia appreciates Indonesia's constructive and substantive approach, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono on Tuesday.
The meeting of the two foreign ministers was held in Moscow ahead of President Prabowo Subianto's state visit to Russia on Thursday.
"We appreciate Indonesia's constructive, substantive, and national interests in developing bilateral relations, including in the fields of trade and economy, humanity, as well as the political and security sectors," Foreign Minister Lavrov said in a post by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Telegram. , as quoted Tuesday 17 June.
Foreign Minister Lavrov further said, along with the 75th anniversary of relations between the two countries, Foreign Minister Lavrov said that the two countries consistently emphasized the special nature of friendly and mutual trust relations between countries, which reflects the common view of key international issues.
"We are pleased that we have close cooperation on the international stage. This collaboration is growing rapidly and in various new forms. We welcome the joining of Indonesia as a full member of BRICS. We are also satisfied with our cooperation in the United Nations, within the framework of the G20, as well as in the ASEAN Russian Dialogue Partnership," explained Foreign Minister Lavrov.
"We hope that we can discuss this whole field of cooperation today in order to submit a joint assessment to the President of the Russian Federation and the President of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Lavrov appreciated Foreign Minister Sugiono for having made three visits to Russia over the past year.
Foreign Minister Lavrov said President Putin would meet with President Prabowo in Saint Petersburg the day before the start of the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). President Prabowo is scheduled to make a speech in the opening session and plenary session of the forum.
