KKP Calls The Revitalization Of Tambak Pantura Potentially Absorbs 119,100 Workers
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) stated that the Tambak revitalization program in the northern coastal area (Pantura) has the potential to absorb up to 119,100 workers, in order to encourage coastal economic growth and the welfare of the cultivators.
Secretary of the Directorate General of Fisheries Budi Daya KKP Tinggal Hermawan said the area of pond land to be revitalized reached around 20,413.25 hectares as part of the transformation of national cultivation.
"This program is projected to be able to create jobs for around 119,100 people in the upstream, on farm to downstream sector," said Tinggal as quoted from his written statement, Tuesday, June 17.
According to Tinggal, the program is estimated to create jobs spread from the upstream sector, cultivation processes to downstream fishery activities in the pond area.
He said the program would have a major impact on the transformation of the cultivation system in the region.
Most of the land that was the target of revitalization previously was idle or unproductive ponds, the cultivation system is still traditional, has no reservoir or wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) and has a very low productivity level.
Through this revitalization, said Tinggal, the pond area will be developed into a sustainable and high-value fish farming area, especially for copy tilapia fish commodities in various areas of Pantura.
It is just a matter of assessing that the program is pursued not only to increase production results, but also to strengthen national food security and encourage community-based economic growth to be more inclusive and highly competitive.

"Revitalization is expected to increase productivity and support self-sufficiency and food security policies to inclusive economic growth," he explained.
Previously, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that the revitalization program for pantura ponds was one of the supporting strategies for the national food security program, which was a priority for the central government.
The program is believed to be able to stimulate people's economic growth because tila copies include fishery commodities with quite high market breakfast, both domestically and in the global market.
