In Addition To The Construction Of The UPT Vertical Hospital, PTPP Presents Clean Water Services In Pekanbaru Riau

JAKARTA - The commitment of PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) in supporting sustainable development is not only realized in national strategic infrastructure projects, but also in the basic community service sector, such as the provision of clean water operated through its subsidiaries, namely PT PP Tirta Madani and PT PP Tirta Riau.

PT PP Tirta Madani and PT PP Tirta Riau were present to provide quality drinking water processing and distribution solutions for the people of Pekanbaru City and its surroundings. PT PP Tirta Madani has been operating since 2021 and is a partner of Perumda Air Drinking (PDAM) Tirta Siak with a processing capacity of 750 liters per second.

Currently, the installed capacity reaches 500 liters per second. Meanwhile, PT PP Tirta Riau is here to expand clean water services in the Riau region, in collaboration with PDAM Tirta Siak and PDAM Tirta Kampar, with an installed capacity of 1,000 liters per second and production capacity of 500 liters per second.

In order to improve drinking water services in Pekanbaru City, not only replaces new pipes with foodagrade standards and updates the increase in water treatment, but also the District Meter Area (DMA) system. This DMA system allows customers not to be severely affected when damage occurs in an area.

The pipeline area currently being built consists of 54 DMA in the area of PT PP Tirta Madani and PT PP Tirta Riau. This is the first innovation to be carried out since 51 years Perumda Air Drinking Tirta Siak was founded in Pekanbaru City, having a DMA system with a drinking water pipe with a Foodgrade standard.

The presence of these two entities has a real impact on the community, especially in reducing groundwater use. Based on data from the Pekanbaru City Population and Civil Registry Office, 453,864 people in 10 sub-districts have been served by a clean water service network from PT PP Tirta Madani and PT PP Tirta Riau.

Currently, around 10,000 house connections have enjoyed the benefits of piped drinking water that meet the standard quality of drinking water in accordance with Permenkes No. 2 of 2023. This benefit is felt directly by the community. Hendy, a resident of Jalan Jambu, Pekanbaru City.

"In the past, the water was small, we waited for hours. But now the water has started to rise. In the past, the Siak River water was directly channeled to us, now it's better, of course, clear, even worth consumption. Changes that we should be grateful for," he said.

President Director of PT PP (Persero) Tbk Novel Arsyad conveyed that the presence of PTPP in Pekanbaru was not only to build large infrastructure such as the Riau Vertical UPT Hospital, but also directly touched the basic needs of the community.

"In the Pekanbaru Riau area, PTPP does not only build the Vertical UPT Hospital. However, PTPP is also present for the Pekanbaru community in the clean water treatment business line which can benefit the Pekanbaru community and its surroundings," he said, in a written statement, Tuesday, June 17.
