The Directorate of Polair Korpolairud Baharkam Polri thwarted an attempt to smuggle 11,543 clear lobster seeds (BBL) in the Sukabumi area, West Java. Two suspected perpetrators were arrested.
Dirpolair Korpolairud Baharkam Polri Brigadier General Idil Tabransyah said the disclosure of this case began with an information report related to the alleged fisheries crime received by the joint team of Sub-Directorate of Gakkum Ditpolair Korpolairud Baharkam Polri.
Then, the information was investigated and based on the results of the investigation, officers suspected a car located in the Jalan Pelabuhan Ratu area, Loji Village, Simpenan District, Sukabumi Regency.
From that suspicion, the police stopped and then searched him. As a result, it was found that BBL was about to be smuggled and had the potential to cause state losses of more than Rp461 million.
"During the examination, two boxes of Styrofoam were found containing clear lobster seeds without any documents for business licensing from the relevant agencies," said Idil in his statement, Monday, June 16.
In that series, two people were arrested. They have the initials PN who are residents of Lebak, Banten, and HM, residents of Cianjur, West Java. Currently, both of them are undergoing further investigation at the Mako Ditpolair Korpolairud Baharkam Polri.
"All lobster seeds that were successfully secured were then released back into their habitat in the Banten waters," said Idil.
In this case, the two perpetrators are suspected of violating Article 92 in conjunction with Article 26 paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 45 of 2009 as amended in Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Job Creation, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
The Directorate of Polairud Baharkam Polri affirms its commitment to continue to eradicate all forms of fishery crime, especially the practice of smuggling lobster seeds that harm national marine resources.
