KKP Completes Legal Process Of Six Illegal Foreign Fishing Boat Cases
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has completed the investigation of six cases of illegal foreign fishing vessels operating in the State Fisheries Management Area of the Republic of Indonesia (WPP-NRI).
The Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP Pung Nugroho Saksono or Ipunk said the legal process emphasized his commitment to eradicate illegal unreported fishing practices (IUU) that harm marine ecosystems and the welfare of coastal communities.
"According to existing laws and regulations, for illegal foreign fishing vessels, our job is not only to arrest, but we continue to process the criminal law until it is completed at the investigation stage," said Ipunk as quoted from his official statement, Monday, June 16.
Meanwhile, the Director of Violation Handling of the Directorate General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP, Teuku Elvitrasyah, added that the prosecutor's six-case file had been declared complete (P-21).
The suspects and evidence have also been handed over to the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
The six ships, namely KM 936 TS Alias KG 93682 TS (Vietnam), KM 95762 TS (Vietnam), FB.ST.LB Peter&Paul-GB (Philippines), KM M/BCa Christian Jame (Philippines), KM F/B Twin J-04 (Philippines) and KM F/B Yanreyd-293 (Philippines).

In addition to the six cases, his party is also still completing the investigation of seven other cases, namely KM M/BCA Omrad 01 (Philippines), KM KG 6219 TS (Vietnam), KM KG 6277 TS (Vietnam), KM TW 7329/6/F (Malaysia), KM SLFA 5210 (Malaysia) and KM SLFA 4584 (Malaysia).
"Meanwhile, the case of KM FV Yue Lu Yu (Chingkok) was carried out by handing over/delegation to the Bali Police Directorate because it was indicated that it was used for criminal acts of trafficking in persons," he concluded.
