4 People Injured Due To Gas Cylinder Explosion At Maleber Bandung
A total of four people were injured and had to be taken to hospital due to an explosion of gas cylinders in a house in Gang Rahayu, Maleber Village, Andir District, Bandung City, West Java.
"There were four people who were injured. There were no fatalities, only burns," said Head of the Emergency Response and Logistics Section of PB Bandung City Roby Darwan as reported by ANTARA, Monday, June 16.
The four victims have now been taken to Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) for medical treatment.
The four victims suffered injuries from an explosion that allegedly came from gas cylinders at the location.
From the results of the preliminary examination, the explosion allegedly came from a gas leak in one of the houses whose position was below the road surface.
Roby explained that the characteristics of LPG gas that is heavier than air allow gas to collect indoors and explode if there is a trigger source.
"It is suspected that there was a gas leak that gathered in one room. Because the house was lower and the gas did not float, it settled below," he said.
As a result of the explosion, he said, two houses were reported to have been affected. A neighbor's house was badly damaged with a wall reportedly broken.
Roby appealed to residents to immediately bring the gas cylinder to an open space if they smelled a pungent gas as a form of anticipation of the risk of an explosion.
"If the gas leaks, it's best to immediately take it to an open place, don't put it in a closed room," he said.
