Bintang/Sofyan Jadi Runner-up BPT Di China
JAKARTA - The pair of Indonesian beach volleyball players, Bintang Akbar/Sofyan Rachman, completed their journey in second place in the 2025 Futures Qingdao Beach Pro Tour (BPT) tournament in China.
Both of them became runners-up after losing 1-2 to Brazilian pair Mateus Costa Rodrigues (Manaus)/Vilsomar Brito Bernardo Junior (Vilso) in the final match at Qingdao on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
Bintang/Sofyan actually excel by winning the first set 21-19. However, the next two sets belong to the Manaus/Vilso pair with a score of 21-15 and 17-15.
"We will evaluate them soon. They will be perfected for the better. Bintang/Sofyan have struggled optimally. God willing, in the future it will be even better," said Head of the PBVSI PP Beach Volleyball Section, Slamet Mulyanto, in a statement.

Bintang/Sofyan played two matches in the group stage match which took place on Friday, June 13, 2025. In the first match, they lost to the host pair, Peng Gao/Yang Li, with a score of 0-2 (14-21 and 19-21) in 29 minutes.
The star/Sofyan then rose in the second match by defeating the Australian pair Ben Hood/Oliver Merritt through straight sets 2-0 (21-13 and 25-23) in a 36-minute match.
These results brought Bintang/Sofyan to the play-offs, which brought together the 12 best teams from the group stage, each consisting of the top three rankings of each pool.
In the play-off which took place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, Bintang/Sofyan defeated the Wu Jiaxin/Ch W Zhou pair with a score of 2-0 (21-17 and 21-18).
Bintang/Sofyan then defeated the host representative Wang YW/Du Hongjun in the semifinals which took place, Sunday, June 15, 2025, with a win of two straight sets 2-0 (21-13 and 21-16).
Indonesia sent two representatives in the 2025 BPT Futures Qingdao tournament. Apart from Bintang/Sofyan, there was the Yosi Firnanda/Danangsyah Pribadi pair, who were eliminated early after becoming caretaker of Group A.
They suffered two defeats in the group stage. First, they lost to the British pair Issa Batrane/Fredrick Bialokoz with a score of 0-2 (19-21 and 18-21). Second, losing to the Brazilian representatives, Vilsomar Brito/Manaus Costa, with a score of 1-2 (21-18, 15-21, and 8-15).
