Mes Lemdikpol Fire: No Casualties, Losses Still Recorded
Three units of mes buildings at the Police Education and Training Center (Lemdikpol) complex on Jalan Ciputat Raya, Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, were reported to have caught fire on Sunday afternoon.
The fire was confirmed by the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Officer, Agus Wijaya. He said the incident occurred at around 15.52 WIB and involved three units of the mes building.
"It is true that a fire occurred in the Police Lemdiklat mes. There were three units of mes that caught fire," Agus said when confirmed.
According to him, the initial suspicion that the cause of the fire was an electrical short in one of the buildings. The condition of the building that has flammable material also accelerated the spread of fire to other areas.
"The fire splash immediately grabbed the flammable building material, so that the fire quickly grew and spread," explained Agus.
A total of 19 fire engines and 62 personnel were deployed to the scene to deal with the fire. The process of extinguishing the fire took more than an hour.
"Officers started operating at 15.58 WIB and the fire was successfully extinguished at around 17.13 WIB," he said.
