Departing For 4 Countries, Hundreds Of PMIs Officially Released By Minister Karding As 'Indonesian Face'
JAKARTA - Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, attended the release of 112 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) assisted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Sunday, July 15 at the Kadin Tower, South Jakarta.
The migrant workers will be dispatched to a number of destination countries such as Japan, Germany, Slovakia, and Saudi Arabia. They will work in various sectors, including medical personnel, construction, and engineering.
In his remarks, Minister Karding expressed his pride and emotion to the PMIs he called the nation's ambassadors on the international stage.
This is not just working abroad. This is a national mission. You are all the face of Indonesia in the eyes of the world. The state is here to ensure that you are protected, trained, and legally dispatched," said Karding in an electronic message received by VOI, Sunday, July 15.
Karding advised migrant workers to maintain Indonesia's good name while working abroad and not to forget their origins.
"Don't forget who you are and where you come from. Work with your heart, and return to bring a better future for your family and nation," he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the government is trying to change the perspective on the profession of migrant workers. Migrant workers, according to him, are not just workers, but strategic professions that have contributed greatly to the national economy.
"Migrant workers should no longer be seen as lowly workers. They are brave, skilled, and produce great foreign exchange for the country. This is a noble profession that we must be proud of," said Karding.
Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya Bakrie, on the same occasion stated his commitment to continue to encourage the placement of Indonesian workers abroad in a professional and competitive manner.
Today we are not just releasing migrant workers. We release foreign exchange heroes. They are clear evidence that the nation's children are ready to compete on the global stage," said Anindya.
According to him, the synergy between Kadin and the Ministry of P2MI is a strategic step in improving the quality of Indonesia's human resources.
