Kemkomdigi Asks Upskilling Media Companies For Employees Instead Of Layoffs
JAKARTA - Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) Ismail appealed to media companies to improve employee skills or upskilling during the digital transformation process, instead of cutting employment (PHK).
"The solution in the form of layoffs of employees should be at the last option, other efficiency efforts can still be made. By consolidating changes to digital transformation within them, media workers are made to improve their ability to be involved in the new media industry," said Ismail while speaking on a webinar entitled "The Layoff Storm of the Media Industry, Salah Siapa?" which was listened to online, Sunday, June 15 at dawn, was confiscated by Antara.
Ismail is of the view that employees are the most important asset of a mass media, and need to be empowered to increase operational efficiency in facing digital age challenges.

He added that the government through the Ministry of Manpower continues to monitor the dynamics of layoffs of mass media employees, both at the national and global levels, while emphasizing a solution dialogue in minimizing the impact of layoffs on employees.
Ismail also hinted that the Ministry of Communication and Industry is preparing various approaches to encourage the mass media to invest in improving employee skills to monitor responsible, ethical content, and can be believed to be true, which media workers can access.
"We at the Ministry of Trade have compiled a new directorate general who specializes in handling health control of digital spaces, including social media and so on ... and provides obligations whose 'level playing field' applies, between conventional media and digital media," said Ismail.
