UEFA Allow 9,500 Spectators To Watch The Europa League Final At The Gdansk Stadium

JAKARTA - UEFA on Monday announced that the final match of the Europa League at the Energa Stadium in Gdansk, Poland, could be watched by around 9,500 spectators inside the stadium after obtaining permission from local authorities.

The European football governing body said the Polish government had agreed that about 25 percent of Gdansk's 40,000 total stadium capacity to be allowed to fill the stands for the final match which took place on May 26.

UEFA said the finalist teams would each be allocated 2,000 tickets, another 2,000 tickets would be sold to the public, while the remaining 2,000 tickets would be distributed to UEFA colleagues, television stations, and football associations.

According to Antara, fans from outside Poland will also be allowed to enter the stadium.

"Fans from abroad must comply with the restriction rules and meet the conditions that will be imposed at the time of the final as there are no exceptions for ticket holders", the UEFA statement was quoted as saying by AFP on Monday.

Viewers will also be asked for evidence of having vaccinated or having a negative COVID-19 result.

The Europa League final is likely to bring together two teams from England, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Manchester United is almost certain to reach the final after a 6-2 win over Roma in the semi-final first leg.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will host Villareal on Thursday, May 6 after trailing 1-2 against the Spanish team in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final at the Stadion de la Ceramica, Spain, last weekend.
