IBM Z17 Officially Launched, Mainframe First For AI Needs
JAKARTA IBM introduces IBM z17, the latest generationung system. This system is integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) technology in hardware, software, and system operations.
IBM z17 is built with Telum II, the latest IBM-made processor. With this processor, IBM z17 can expand the system's capabilities for AI-based transaction needs. Thisiri system is also capable of handling new workloads, well above the generative AI technology.
The tech company explained that it developed IBM z17 with a long process.

The design of the robot system was developed for five years. During this period of time, IBM has also filed hundreds of patents.
There are more than 300 patent applications submitted to the United States Patent and Trade Office.
IBM also revealed that this system was created based on collaboration between IBM Research and Software teams so that the resulting network of tools can work optimally.
"The industry is increasingly realizing that AI value is critically dependent on the infrastructure where this technology is run," said Ross Mauri, General Manager of IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE, in a statement, quoted on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
Mauri added that z17 can directly enter AI into the core of the company's system through sharing sides, be it software, processing power, and storage capacity. Therefore, the application of AI is claimed to work quickly.
"In addition, organizations can optimize their internal data collections that have not been utilized so far, safely and cost-effectively," said Mauri.
IBM z17 is also designed for a hybrid environment by combining hardware innovation, software capabilities for AI, and support for open standards as well as development tools. Thus, the performance and reliability offered can be different.
