Israel Attacks Iran, House Of Representatives Commission I: Don't Lose Focus, Palestine Is Still Being Colonized

JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sukamta, condemned the Israeli military action that attacked Iran's nuclear facilities and a number of strategic points in other countries.

However, he reminded the world not to lose focus that Palestine is still colonized by Israel.

Sukamta called Israel's attack on Iran a form of open aggression that not only violates international law but also shows Israel's brutal face of increasingly losing moral legitimacy in the eyes of the world.

According to Sukamta, this escalation is not a defense response, but part of Israel's Prime Minister (PM) political maneuver, Benjamin Netanyahu, who is being cornered by international pressure and a domestic legitimacy crisis.

"Netanyahu is under tremendous pressure. Western support for genocide brutality in Gaza is starting to recede."

"In fact, from within Israel itself, the wave of criticism for his leadership is getting bigger," said Sukamta, Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Sukamta views Israel's attack on Iran as just a step to seek attention from Western countries.

"So, the attack on Iran seems like a desperate step to return to attracting sympathy for Western countries that do have sentiment towards Iran, especially regarding nuclear issues," said this member of the House of Representatives' International Relations Commission.

Sukamta also assessed that Israel is now more worthy of being referred to as a regional aggressor, no longer a country at war to defend itself. He hopes that the global will remain focused on Israeli attacks on Palestine.

"This is not about the existence of Israel, this is about the political existence of Netanyahu. The international community should not be fooled," said Sukamta.

"The main focus remains on genocide against the Palestinian people which has not yet been stopped."

"Don't let this attack on Iran become a distraction that makes the world forget the main crimes that are ongoing," added the legislator from the Yogyakarta electoral district.

Sukamta also called on the international community, including Indonesia and member states of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to consistently reject all forms of crimes against humanity and not be dragged into the new narrative of provocation played by Israel and its allies.

"We must continue to side with justice and humanity. Do not lose focus. Palestine is still colonized, its people are still being killed."

"The world must continue to speak out loud against these crimes, not be divided because of the new provocation scenario," said Sukamta.
