David Beckham Officially Awarded The Title 'Sir' By The British Empire

JAKARTA - Football legend David Beckham has earned the title of honor for the nighthood or nationality of the British Empire, so he can now bear the name 'Sir David Beckham'.

Reported by ESPN, Saturday WIB, David Beckham received the title 'Sir' after being included in the list of honors of King Charles 2025's birthday. The title is a form of recognition for his contribution to sports and the field of charity.

"Big growth in east London with very patriotic and proud parents and grandparents to be British citizens, I never imagined I would accept this honor," said David Beckham after receiving the award.

"Playing for and captaining my country is the greatest privilege of my career, and a truly childhood dream come true."

David Beckham, now 50, made 115 appearances with the England national team and became a global icon through his career at elite clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain.

He is also the fourth Manchester United figure to receive the title "Sir", following in the footsteps of Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Matt Busby, and Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I am very lucky to be able to do the job I did and I am grateful to be recognized for the work that has given me so much happiness. I need time to digest all this news, I am very proud and a very emotional moment," he added.
