Mayor Bobby Nasution Targets Fixing The Old Town Of Kesawan By The End Of The Year
MEDAN - The City Government (Pemko) of Medan, North Sumatra, is targeting to fix the old town in the center of Medan City through an accelerated revamping program of the Kesawan heritage area by the end of 2021.
"We will physically improve the Kesawan area starting in December 2021," said Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution in Medan, quoted by Antara, Monday, May 3.
It's just that, he said, before repairs are carried out as part of the arrangement, planning will first be carried out in May-August and project tenders in August to November 2021.
This, according to Bobby, was a follow-up to a meeting between him and the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), who assigned officials at the North Sumatra Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (PPW).
The North Sumatra PPW Center formed a Medan Urban Infrastructure Planning (RPIP) team and conducted a field survey in the Kesawan area from April 29 to May 1, 2021.
"This step is expected that Kesawan as a cultural heritage area will be more organized and preserve the historical buildings contained in it," said the son-in-law of President Joko Widodo.
Meanwhile, Head of North Sumatra PPW Office, Syafriel Tansier, last week admitted that the survey conducted by his party was part of data collection, inventory problems, providing suggestions, and looking for alternative solutions.
"Also the detail engineering design which becomes the basis for conducting the tender, including a map of the Medan City drainage data that has existed since the Dutch colonial era," he said.
