Two Senior Iranian Generals Killed, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: Zionist Sealing Fate Hurts

JAKARTA - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was furious with the Israeli attack that killed a number of military and scientists, including two senior generals.

The two generals in question are the Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri, as well as the Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossien Salami.

In a message to Iranians on Friday following Israeli attacks on a number of locations in Tehran and other cities, Khamenei said the Zionist regime would suffer harsh punishment.

"For the Great Iranian Nation!" the leader's message began, "The Zionist regime commits crimes with its evil and bloody hands in our beloved country and expresses its evil nature further by attacking residential areas," he said as quoted by IRNA on June 13.

"Rezim must bear a strong response," said Khamenei.

Khamenei further said a number of commanders and scientists were killed in the attack.

"The replacements and their colleagues will soon continue their work," Khamenei said.

He ensured the Iranian military would not silence Israeli attacks.

"With this crime, the Zionist regime has sealed a bitter and painful destiny for itself and will surely see (the takdir) happen to it," said Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Israeli regime began military attacks on and near Iran's capital, Tehran, and other cities in Iran on Friday morning.

Images show damaged residential buildings in several locations in the capital.

Witnesses and reporters from state TV said they saw the bodies of women and children among the victims.

Apart from Major General Bagheri and Major General Salami, a number of other military and civilian figures were also killed in Israeli attacks.

The Commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters Major General Gholamali Rashid was also killed in an Israeli attack.

There are also Mohammad-Mehdi Tehran, nuclear scientist and President of Azad Islam University, as well as Fereydoun Abbasi, nuclear scientist and former head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization who were killed in separate attacks.
