SSE Pamer New Vehicles At Indo Defense Exhibition, There Are Hybrid Tanks
JAKARTA The largest defense exhibition in Indonesia, the Indo Defense Exhibition, which was held at JIExpo Kemayoran until July 14, became a national defense and automotive industry show. One of the things that stole attention was PT Sentra Surya Ekajaya (SSE), a domestic manufacturer of tactical vehicles that featured a series of their flagship innovations.
In this event, the SSE presented a variety of leading military vehicles, ranging from the P6 ATAV (All Terrain Assault Vehicle) variant 3, light tactical vehicles equipped with the 4569 Level 1 Ballistic STANAG Armor, as well as the Remote Control Weapon Station and Gunshot Detection System systems to improve combat and security capabilities.
No less interesting, there is also P2 KM Recon, a reconnaissance vehicle with high maneuverability and advanced technology systems capable of carrying up to five personnel. This vehicle is designed to be flexible in missions, including the installation of various weapons systems according to operational needs.
The SSE also showcased P2 Tiger APC, a collaborative armored vehicle with French defense company Texelis. This collaboration resulted in the 6x6 vehicle platform which became the foundation of the latest SSE prototype in the combat vehicle segment.
The most attracting visitors is the P8 Light Tank, a three-driver, commander, and gunner light tank concept vehicle that carries Diesel to Electric Transmission (hybrid system) technology. This technology allows vehicles to move in a silent mode using battery power, suitable for infiltration operations without being detected. In addition, the Rubber Track or rubber track on this tank makes it quieter and friendlies to the road surface.
This light tank is also equipped with a 30-40mm caliber Remote Control Weapon Station, STANAG 4569 level 2 4 ballistic protection system, as well as various advanced defense features such as the Laser Warning System, Gunshot Detection System, and Radar System.
"With a hybrid driving system, this tank is capable of carrying out operations in silent mode. It is ideal for reconnaissance missions or infiltration. This is the result of our collaboration with Pussenkav and the internal research team," said Director of PT SSE Eka Suryajaya, when met at the exhibition location, Thursday, June 12.

Not only showing off products, but SSE also strengthened the cooperation network through the signing of the MoU with a number of strategic partners, both from within and outside the country. One of them is with Texelis, who continues collaboration in the development of 6x6 vehicles for P2 Tigers.
SSE also cooperates with KNDS from France for Anti-Drone Turret solutions that will be integrated into P2 Tiger, as well as MBDA for the development of a short-range defense system. On the national side, SSE signed a Cooperation Agreement with BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency) regarding the optimization of light tank performance. This collaboration is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding that was signed at the Strategic Industry Business Meeting, April 21, 2024.
"We want to show that the national defense industry is able to answer modern military challenges. Not only about function, but also efficiency and technological innovation," said Eka.
