Gay Sexual Deviations Network In East Java Revealed, Member Of 11 Thousand People

The East Java Regional Police (East Java Police) succeeded in uncovering a network of same-sex or gay sexual irregularities operating online through one of the popular social media platforms. This case is currently in the development stage by the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the East Java Police.

The Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the East Java Police, Kombes Pol Raden Bagoes Wibisono, confirmed the disclosure and said that several parties involved had been arrested by Sub-Directorate II of the Ditreskrimsus.

However, he has not provided more detailed information regarding the number or identity of the party who has been secured because the investigation is still ongoing.

"We have secured something, but we are still developing it by Sub-Directorate II," Bagoes told reporters, Friday, June 13.

He also asked the public to be patient and emphasized that all information related to the results of the investigation would be submitted officially and thoroughly after the investigation was completed.

The online network is thought to have been operating for the last three years and managed to gather more than 11,000 members from various regions. Initially, the group was closed and could only be accessed by members who had been approved by the admin. However, over time, the group began to open wider access, making it open to the public and more accessible.

This finding also sparked serious attention from the East Java Province Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo). Head of East Java Diskominfo, Sherlita Ratna Dewi, stated that her party had verified and analyzed the activities and content shared in the group.

"The East Java Diskominfo pays attention to information about gay groups that have quite a significant number of members," said Sherlita in a press statement.

He added that his party is currently coordinating closely with the East Java Regional Police to support the investigation process, including providing technical information related to the digital platform used and possible violations of the applicable information technology regulations.

East Java's Diskominfo also carries out further monitoring of the potential spread of similar content on other platforms as a preventive measure against misuse of social media that can violate the law or social norms.

Along with the ongoing investigation process, the East Java Regional Police appealed to the public not to be involved in online activities that deviate or violate the law. The public is also expected to report any suspicious activity or similar groups that have the potential to endanger public security and order.

The police confirmed that this disclosure was not intended to discriminate against sexual orientation, but to take action against the practice of misuse of digital platforms that could potentially lead to violations of the law, such as exploitation, dissemination of pornographic content, or illegal recruitment targeting vulnerable groups, including minors.

This law enforcement effort, according to the East Java Regional Police, is part of the commitment to maintain the security of digital spaces amidst the increasing use of social media in the community.

Until now, the investigation process is still ongoing and the police have not closed the possibility of a suspect or other related network. The East Java Regional Police are committed to taking firm action against the perpetrators in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
