North Sumatra Quarantine Center Failed To Send 6,527 Fisheries To Hanoi

The North Sumatra Center for Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine (BBKHIT) together with Customs and Excise thwarted the delivery of 6,527 durable butterflys to HanoiVietnam at Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang.

"In addition, 20 live clubs and 200 live spiders were found with an estimated economic value of Rp. 299 million," said Head of BBKHIT North Sumatra N.Prayatno Ginting as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 12.

Prayatno said the thousands of butterflys came from Morowali, Central Sulawesi and Ambon, Maluku, while the clubs and spiders came from Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra.

The failure to smuggle thousands of preserved butterflyes and other animals was carried out together with Customs and Excise at Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang, Saturday (8/6).

Officers secured the man with the initials ASR (43) who has not yet been named a suspect, because he is still conducting an investigation and must report.

"From his statement, the evidence will be sent to Hanoi, Vietnam for sale to collectors," he said.

Quarantine, in fact, the animals that are secured are not prohibited or pests, it's just that the carriers carried out by the perpetrators do not report or other regulations that remind them of the animal carriers.

Based on Article 34 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of Law Number 21 of 2019 concerning Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine which states that every expenditure of carrier media (animals) from Indonesian territory must be equipped with a required health certificate and other documents.
