This inauguration is a historic moment because it is the appointment of the first judge after five years of vacuum. Interestingly, the majority of the candidates for judges this year are women, marking the increase in the representation of women in the Indonesian justice system.

In detail, 1,451 candidates for judges were confirmed, consisting of 921 candidates for general justices, 362 candidates for religious justices, 143 candidates for state administrative justices, and 25 prospective military justice judges.

As many as 40 representatives of prospective judges received symbolic inauguration in the form of presidential decisions (Keppres), graduation tubes, and medal draping.

With the addition of 1,451 new judges, the total number of judges in Indonesia has now increased from 7,260 people to 8,711 people. However, this number still does not meet the ideal needs, given the high caseload in the justice system.

Throughout 2024, 3,081,090 cases were recorded handled by all judicial institutions, marking the importance of increasing the number and capacity of judges in a sustainable manner.

This inauguration is expected to be the beginning of stronger, inclusive, and efficient judicial reforms under President Prabowo Subianto's leadership, especially in responding to the challenges of high caseloads across the court lines.
