The Ministry Of Home Affairs Facilitates The Settlement Of The Status Of The Four Aceh Islands

JAKARTA - Director General (Dirjen) of Regional Administration Development (Adwil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Safrizal ZA explained that the Ministry of Home Affairs is ready to support the completion of the polemic on the ownership status of the four islands which are the discourse between the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra (North Sumatra).

"It is very possible that the two governors were facilitated by the Coordinating Ministry [Political and Security Divisions] and the Minister of Home Affairs to meet, with the two governors and the Rupabumi Relocation Team to obtain an explanation," Safrizal said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 11.

He asked all parties to wait for the official details of the plan. He emphasized that currently the Ministry of Home Affairs has reported the latest results of the settlement efforts to the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri).

Likewise, the relevant Deputy at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs has also reported the same situation to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

Safrizal explained that the determination of the administrative status of the four islands, namely Mangkir Gadang, Mangkir Ketek, Lipan, and Panjang as North Sumatra, had gone through a long process. He said the two regions agreed to submit the decision to the National Team for the Imposition of the Rupabumi Name.

This is because the two regions have not found a bright spot for the polemic that has occurred for approximately 20 years.

"After [the polemic occurs] over and over again, it is submitted and there is a agreement that [the decision regarding the administrative area of the four islands] is left to the confiscation center team with one clause obeying the decision of the Rupabumi Name Enforcement Team, so it is decided," he said.

He welcomed if both parties could meet to discuss the best solution to the polemic of the four islands. According to him, the team from the central government will continue to strive to encourage the resolution of the polemic by bringing together related parties.

He hopes that the best decisions can be made and accepted by the parties. "Don't insist on the Ministry of Home Affairs. If you meet, oh, I agree with the two governors, we just have to administratively ratify it," concluded Safrizal.
