Up 35 Percent, Jabodetabek KRL Users Reach 179 Million People By May 2025

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI Commuter recorded a growth in the number of Jabodetabek Commuter Line users. The number of users in the Jabodetabek area from January to May 2025 grew by around 35 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

KAI Commuter's Public Relations Manager, Leza Arlan said that KRL users from January to May 2025 almost reached 180 million people.

"KAI Commuter recorded a positive performance in the Jabodetabek area from January to May 2025 with a total of 179,154,727 users, growing 34.98 percent compared to the same period last year of 132,723,762 people," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, June 11.

Leza added that specifically in May 2025 there was a total volume of 29,122,224 users, or an increase of 5.46 percent compared to last year's May.

In this 2025 achievement, specifically for Jabodetabek Commuter Line users, it was recorded that more than 175.7 million people, or 98.08 percent of the total users.

"Meanwhile, the Commuter Line Merak is recorded at more than 2.32 million users or 1.3 percent of the total, and for Commuter Line Basoetta it is 0.62 percent or around 1.11 million users," he said.

Meanwhile, continued Leza, in the Jabodetabek area in May 2025 yesterday, Bogor Station was the largest departure station with a volume of 1,566,584 people, followed by Tanah Abang Station as many as 1,314,359 people.

"As for the station destination with the most users, namely Bogor Station with 1,583,171 people, Tanah Abang Station with 1,252,660 people, and Sudirman Station with 1,006,102 people," he said.

Leza said the growth indicates a high public confidence in the Commuter Line mode of transportation. This achievement also shows that the Commuter Line is the main choice for the community for their daily mobility.

"In addition, this growth is one of the changes in people's lifestyles that are more environmentally friendly, because public transportation is one of the solutions in reducing carbon emissions and congestion," added Leza.

KAI Commuter also continues to strive for various steps to make it easier for the public to use Commuter Line services, in addition to being integrated with other transportation services, such as long-distance trains, LRT, MRT, and other land transportation.
