Commission I Of The House Of Representatives Asks For Plans For Recruitment Of 24 Thousand TNI Soldiers To Be Reviewed By Matang

JAKARTA - Member of Commission I DPR RI, Soleh requested that the plan of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) recruit 24 thousand new soldiers to form a territorial battalion for development be carefully and deeply studied.

According to him, the increase in the number of TNI personnel on a large scale is a strategic policy that requires comprehensive planning, both in terms of real national defense needs, budgets, and implications for the organizational structure of the TNI in the future.

"I remind you that this plan is not reactive or ceremonial, but is based on a strategic study that considers the geopolitical situation, defense posture, and efficiency of the state budget," said Soleh, Wednesday, June 11.

By assessing, the formation of a development territorial battalion must have a clear basis of need so as not to overlap with the existing territorial unit functions. Such as Military District Command (Kodim) and Military Rayon Command (Koramil).

"Don't let us create a new structure without evaluation of the effectiveness of existing units. This can lead to a waste of human resources and budgets," he said.

Furthermore, By emphasizing the importance of coordination between the TNI, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Finance in planning recruitment and forming new battalions to be in line with national development priorities and the principles of good governance.

As a member of the commission in charge of defense, information, and abroad, Soleh stated that his party would continue to monitor the progress of the plan and encourage due diligence and needs (feasibility study) before this policy is implemented.

Legislator dari Dapil Jawa Barat XI mengatakan, pihaknya akan membahas rencana pembentukan battalion teritrial pembangunan dan rekruitmen 24 ribu petugas itu bersama Panglima TNI.

"We support the strengthening of the TNI, but it must be based on objective needs and proper planning. This is a matter of the future of national defense," he concluded.

Previously, the Head of the Indonesian Army Information Service, Brigadier General Wahyu Yudha, said that the recruitment of 24 thousand soldiers was not for combat purposes, but would focus on other activities, such as food security and health services.
