4 Years Of Being Fugitive, Puncak KKB Member Yekis Wanimbo Arrested In Mimika

JAKARTA - A member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), Yekis Wanimbo alias Salamakan Tabuni, was finally arrested after being a fugitive for about four years.

Yekis Wanimbo alias Salahemakan Tabuni is included in the wanted list (DPO) for being involved in the burning of the PT. Unggul Camp in Mundidok Village, Puncak Regency, Papua, in 2021.

"Salahemakan Tabuni is part of the KKB group led by Numbuk Telenggen. He played an active role in the burning of vital facilities belonging to PT. Unggul in Puncak in 2021," said Head of Damai Cartenz, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani in his statement, Wednesday, June 11.

Regarding the arson that became the basis for the arrest, Yekis Wanimbo alias Salamakan Tabuni is said to have done it with Beniku Tabuni and Alenus Tabuni. They doused the building with gasoline and burned it using a lighter.

The suspect is known to be full name Yekis Wanimbo, born in Ilaga, February 1, 1994, having his address at Walani Village, Kwamki Narama. In addition to being a farmer, he is also known to be actively gaining gold in Kali Kuluk, Tembagapura District, whose results are allegedly used to fund KKB activities, including the purchase of firearms.

Meanwhile, regarding the arrest, Yekis Wanimbo alias Salamakan Tabuni was arrested in Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province, on Tuesday, June 10, at around 14:35 WIT.

Before being arrested, Yekis Wanimbo alias Salamakan Tabuni planned to flee to the Timika area. The goal is to meet someone namedeg Mujizau, who is currently also under investigation.

In addition, this KKB member also wants to change his appearance by shaving his hair and beard to avoid identification.

During the arrest process, the officers confiscated a number of pieces of evidence, one of which was a revolver made by Pindad, serial number AE S 030190.

"The suspect admitted to being involved in the arson, even though he claimed to only participate without starting a fire. He also admitted to buying the revolver for Rp. 30 million from a Damal resident in Tembagapura District, without ammunition," said Faizal.
