New Market Will Be Revitalized To Be Crowded Again, Vehicles Are Prohibited From Entering The Area

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno revealed that the DKI Provincial Government will revitalize the New Market area, Central Jakarta. This aims to make the shopping center more crowded with people.

In its arrangement, motorized vehicles will be prohibited from entering the Pasar Baru area. Then, other culinary and shopping areas in open spaces will be installed with a canopy to make it more shady.

"Later we will revitalize, our New Market will be closed (for vehicles), there should be no vehicles. So indeed for roads. Then tonight we open with street food," Rano told reporters, Wednesday, June 11.

The plan is that the DKI Provincial Government will allocate a New Market revitalization budget in the 2026 budget year APBD. Meanwhile, this year the implementation study is still being improved.

As one of the spirits of the city of Jakarta, Rano realizes that the DKI Pemorov must pay attention to the attractiveness of Pasar Baru. Thus, structuring in Pasar Baru must be done.

"In the past, Pasar Baru was crowded. Indeed, behind it was quiet because it started with COVID. But yesterday I visited, I have confidence that I can return at least 50 percent of the crowd," said Rano.

Revitalization of Pasar Baru, continued Rano, will be carried out optimally. Given, Pasar Baru is located in a strategic area adjacent to city parks, art buildings, to government offices.

"We will form an area of the Banteng Field, then with the Ministry of Finance we will also work together to open the area. Then there is an art building, a post office too. So, the New Market will enter the area later," said Rano.

In fact, the DKI Provincial Government is preparing a tour package scheme that will cooperate with local hotels. Hopefully, people from outside Jakarta can be interested in visiting Pasar Baru.

"That's why the hotels are ready, we will make packages for our brothers and sisters from the regions. Now maybe we go to Bandung on weekends, now the people of Bandung are told to go to Jakarta. Where are the packages, where are the hotels, then where are the eating activities," he explained.
