Living In Indonesia Since 2014, Timorese Foreigner Leste Was Secured At PLBN Atambua

KUPANG - Immigration Officers at the Mota Ain Cross-Border Post (PLBN), Atambua, Belu Regency, arrested a foreign national (WNA) from Timor Leste with the initials DO who was caught trying to get out of Indonesian territory without valid immigration documents.

Daily executive Head of the Immigration Information and Communication Technology Section of the Atambua Immigration Office, Abraham Jordan Ouw, said that DO is currently in the Immigration Office to undergo further examination.

"DO has been taken to the Atambua Immigration Office for the process of deepening and enforcing immigration law," Jordan said in his statement, Antara, Wednesday, June 11.

According to Jordan, DO previously boarded a vehicle from Kupang to PLBN Mota Ain on Tuesday.

However, upon arrival at PLBN, he did not enter the immigration inspection building and went straight to the border portal which was guarded by joint officers from the TNI, Immigration and Customs.

His movements were suspicious, so the officers detained him and conducted an examination. When asked to show a passport, it turned out that his validity period had expired," he said.

Not only that, but DO's stay in Indonesia has also exceeded the specified time limit, and he does not have an official residence permit document.

From the initial examination, DO admitted that he had lived in Indonesia since 2014, settled in Malang, East Java, with his wife and children. However, during that time, he did not take care of the extension of the residence permit or other immigration documents.

"DO was then escorted to the departure building for initial inspection, then officially handed over to the Atambua Immigration Officer for further treatment," Jordan added.

Acting Head of the TPI Atambua Immigration Office Class II, Hariyanto, appreciated the alertness of the officers who succeeded in thwarting efforts to violate the immigration.

Our officers have worked swiftly, measurably, and according to procedures. This is a tangible form of the presence of the state in maintaining the integrity and sovereignty of the border," said Hariyanto.

He emphasized that currently the legal process against DO is still ongoing and will be handled in accordance with the provisions of the Immigration Law in force in Indonesia.
