GAC Inaugurates Factory In Purwakarta, Ready To Become A Global Export Base

JAKARTA GAC officially started its first assembly factory operation in Indonesia, in collaboration with Indomobil Group. Located in Purwakarta, West Java, this facility is not only focused on meeting domestic market needs, but is also prepared as an export base to various countries.

GAC International president Wei Haigang said that the factory with a production capacity of 20,000 units per year was designed to support GAC's global expansion strategy.

"In the near future, we will produce a right steering vehicle (RHD) for the ASEAN market. In the next stage, we will target the left-wheeled vehicle (LHD) market like Africa," said Haigang during the factory inauguration, Tuesday, June 10.

It doesn't stop there, Haigang also revealed that Australia is one of the main export targets from this factory. This means that, in the future, GAC cars circulating in the Land of Kangaroo will come from Indonesia.

This production facility has high flexibility, enabling the assembly of various types of vehicles, ranging from pure electric cars (EVs), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), to Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREVs).

The first model to be assembled is AION V, a modern electric SUV with advanced technology aimed at urban communities. The presence of AION V is also a strategic step in supporting the government's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.

We are proud to be a part of the future of the Indonesian automotive industry. This factory is a clear proof of our commitment to grow with Indonesia, create jobs, and transfer technology and knowledge," concluded Haigang.
