Passengers At Yogyakarta International Airport Jump 58 Percent Ahead Of Homecoming Ban

JAKARTA - The number of special passengers arriving at Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, has increased by 58 percent from Wednesday, April 28 to Monday, ahead of the homecoming ban that will be imposed on May 6-17, 2021.

General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Yogyakarta International Airport Agus Pandu Purnama in Kulon Progo, said that on Wednesday, April 28, the number of passengers arriving was 2,556 passengers and departing 2,093 passengers, Thursday, April 29 who came 2,707 people and departed 2,250 passengers.

Furthermore, on Friday, April 30 there were 3,619 passengers arriving, and those departing 3,015 passengers, Saturday, May 1 the number of arriving 3,305 passengers and departing 2,502 passengers. On Sunday, May 2, the number of passengers who came was 3,385 passengers and those who left were 2,582 passengers, and Monday 3 May 3,000 passengers came and 2,009 passengers left.

"Since April 28, especially for arrivals, there has been a 58 percent increase in passengers compared to the previous week", said Agus Pandu.

He said based on traffic data at Yogyakarta International Airport that there was a surge in passengers, and the peak occurred on Friday, April 30, which reached 6,634 passengers.

"Based on the traffic, the number of passengers has begun to decline, although the number is still very high compared to the daily average of 1,500 passengers before the fast", said Agus Pandu.

Previously, Yogyakarta International Airport Airport Duty Manager Budi Wiyono confirmed a significant increase in the number of passengers in April 2021. From the average daily departure and arrival figures of 1,500 passengers, April saw an increase of 3,000 passengers.

The increase in the number of departures and arrivals at YIA Airport is dominated by the direction of Jakarta. While number two comes from the Kalimantan area. The protocol for preventing the transmission of COVID-19 at YIA Airport continues to be tightened.
