Israel Attacks Yemeni Port Managed By Houthis
JAKARTA - The Israeli Navy attacked the Houthi facility at the port of the Yemeni Red Sea, Hodeidah. Israeli Defense Minister Katz threatened Iran's sided movement with sea and air blockades if the attack on Israel continued.
As reported by Reuters on Tuesday, June 10, Houthi-run Al Masirah TV said Israel targeted the port pier of Al Hodeidah with two attacks.
The port, called Israel, was used by the group to transfer weapons. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Israel has repeatedly attacked the Houthi facility with airstrikes in military operations after the country drastically weakened other Iranian partners in the Middle East.
The Israeli military on Monday urged the evacuation of Houthi-controlled ports in Ras Isa, Hodeidah, and Salif.
"We warn the Houthi terror organization that if they continue to fire on Israel, they will face strong responses and will be subject to sea and air blockades," Katz said in a statement on X.
British maritime security firm Ambrey said there were no reports of damage to merchant ships at the port following the Israeli attack.
Ambrey also advised ships to minimize crew movement on decks and crew of semi-minimal platforms perhaps while operating around the site.
Since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, Iran-linked Houthis have opened fire on Israel and deliveries in the Red Sea, disrupting global trade, as an act of solidarity with Palestine.
Most of the dozens of unmanned missiles and aircraft fired at Israel have been intercepted or failed. Israel also carried out a series of counter-attacks.
The Houthis have been a formidable force that has lasted for years from Saudi-led bombings in Yemen's civil war.
