KEDIRI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) evacuated a climber who was reported to have suffered a leg injury while climbing Mount Klotok in Kediri City, East Java.

Head of BPBD Kediri City Joko Arianto said officers initially received reports of climbers who were injured while climbing a mountain with a height of 536 meters above sea level/mdpl. The report went directly to Report Mbak Wali 112 and forwarded to BPBD.

"After receiving the report, the Kediri City BPBD immediately followed up. The Rapid Response Unit (URC) was deployed to the location and preparing to conduct a search," he said in Kediri, Tuesday, June 10, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the climber was named Novian Risky (17), from Karanganyar Village, Wates District, Kediri Regency. He climbed along with four of his friends.

The incident began when the five climbers left for Puncak Watu Bengkah on Monday, June 9 at around 12.00 WIB. However, at around 17.00 WIB, one of them suffered a leg injury due to a sprain. The person concerned was unable to continue the journey.

Seeing that it was getting darker, Novian Risky's friends first came down to seek help. Meanwhile, the climber was left alone. The person concerned is also trying to find help using his cell phone.

"His friend came down for help. Well, the person concerned finally opened Google, then there was 112 information, finally he called 112," said Joko.

He said the joint officers that night also started walking along the Bukit Klotok area, focusing on the latest known coordinates. At around 19.00 WIB, the person concerned was found.

"At that time, he was found in a state of pain and could not walk alone. Finally, the BPBD team was greeted," said Joko.

He added that the sea was slippery and steep. After passing through the route with minimal lighting conditions, finally at around 20.23 WIB, the climber was successfully evacuated to a safe point and reunited with his family. The person concerned also met his friends again.

Meanwhile, Kediri Mayor Vinanda Prameswati appreciated the response and quick action carried out by a joint team from the Kediri City BPBD, Wana Rescue Indonesia, and Badminton Adventure, so as to save people in need of assistance.

He said the "Mbak Wali 112 Report" program was indeed made to make it easier for the public to report problems and complaints, both related to emergency and non-emergency conditions.

"I appreciate the hard work of friends who have made this rescue. Indeed, I want to create a fast and precise government. Like this incident when someone needs help, we can quickly provide help," he said.
