Passenger Cellphone Lost On Jakarta-Melbourne Flight, Garuda Frees All Cabin Crews
JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk opened its voice regarding uploads on social media regarding reports of lost cellphones (HP) by one of the passengers on the GA 716 flight on the Jakarta 'Melbourne route. The company regrets the incident.
For your information, the incident of the passenger who lost his cellphone occurred on June 6, 2025.
Garuda Indonesia Commercial Director Ade R Susardi said Garuda Indonesia apologizes for the inconvenience experienced by passengers on the GA 716 flight on the Jakarta 'Melbourne route.
Currently, continued Ade, Garuda is conducting a thorough investigation with relevant stakeholders to support the reporting process. Including by identifying the chronology of the incident against the cabin crew on duty.
"For the sake of smoothing the investigation process, all cabin crew on duty have been temporarily relieved of flight duties," said Ade in an official statement, Tuesday, June 10.
Ade also said that when the company received the loss report, all flight crew on duty had carried out standard flight operations and security procedures.
Including, continued Ade, immediately responding to reports of loss and coordinating with local airport authorities, which was followed by a search process involving relevant officers at the airport.
"In addition, as a form of our commitment to the comfort of passengers, Garuda Indonesia representatives in Melbourne also accompany the passengers concerned in handling this incident, including when making an official report to the local police," he said.

The video he uploaded went viral on social media because he admitted to tracking the whereabouts of the cellphone in Melbourne and was seen in a hotel that was held by Garuda crew before it was finally detected being dumped in a river around the hotel.
